Go Skateboarding Day In Kabul

Kabul looks like a different place. Maybe it has something to do with the 20,000 troops Obama sent over. I’m not sure, but whatever it is, hopefully this skateboarding epidemic would spread and keep growing. Just looking at the photo above, it strikes me as amazing that these kids can keep up with what’s going on in the skateboard world and start their movement. Even more touching is the fact that skating is the only activity or sport in Afghanistan where girls are in the public eye.
As you may know, Afghanistan is a country where women are suppressed and kept out of the public eye. That means no schools, no education, and no work. But when it comes to skating, girls were out on the street as well as boys. It’s a new experience for women athletes who often train in private and some have even been attacked for taking part in sports. This movement can be revolutionary.
