The Quinceañera, or Quince años (”fifteen years” in English), in Latin American culture, is a coming of age ceremony held on a girl’s fifteenth birthday. The term Quinceaños refers to the birthday of the celebrant, and the term Quinceañera refers to the celebrant herself. Like many other coming-of-age ceremonies, the Quinceaños is associated with the Quinceañera “becoming a lady”.

In celebration of the 15th ESPN X Games, the X Games 15 Quinceañera Ticket Kickoff and Celebration Party will feature music, entertainment and event exhibitions while tickets for X Games 15 will go on sale at 3 p.m. to the public either onsite at STAPLES Center or online through www.Ticketmaster.com.

Hosted by X Games and E! Entertainment’s on-air talent, Sal Masekela, entertainment at the X Games 15 Quincenera will feature:

 * X Games skateboard street demo on course elements previously used in X Games Skateboard Street competition, starring X Games skateboarding athletes Paul Rodriguez  Jr., Terry Kennedy, Lyn-Z Adams and Amy Caron

 * X Games athlete meet and greet, autograph signings and photo opportunities with Moto X stars Ronnie Faisst, Todd Potter, and Winter X Games Snowboarder X gold medalist and Olympic silver medalist Lindsey Jacobe

 * Music by KROQ DJs and the mariachi band Mexico En America

 * Quinceañera-themed catering including a taco, burritos and churros

* Additional photo opportunities: Ken Block’s X Games 13 Silver Medal winning Subaru rally car and the world’s largest skateboard, over 36 feet long, 8 feet wide and 3 feet tall, built by California Skateparks

* ESPN Zone Design-Your-Own Skatedeck Opportunity

* Free birthday cake for the first 150 fans provided by El Manjar Peruano Bakery
If I was allowed to plan this even I would make all the athletes wear Quincenera dresses. Wouldn’t it be awesome to see P-Rod in a fluffy pink dress holding a parasol while tearing up the demo course? I wonder if Terry Kennedy would get a grill to match his elegant dress and shoes?

I would also make all the athletes do the dance above.

It’s a good thing I don’t work for ESPN.
