It has been an eco friendly past few days as some of us in the eco friendly world got together and had ourselves some eco friendly activities. For my friends and I, we got together in the Big Apples to take part of a worldwide collective effort to forego automobiles for a day in what is called the Annual NAKED BIKE RIDE.
Their goal is to get us all to stop and think about the negative effects that cars (and the pollution they create) have on people and the planet. The list of cities participating in World Naked Bike Ride is long: Madrid, Barcelona, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington D.C., Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, London, Mexico City, and many more.
Huge crowds gathered with us as we decorated our bodies and bikes with messages such as, “More ass, less gas”. Gasoline that is. Unfortunately, the gathering looked more like the yearly gay pride parade, but I guess it’s okay since it was for a good cause.
Quite a few skaters took part in the eco friendly activities but in a different fashion. As a part of Santa Rosa, California’s 31st Annual Harmony Festival over the weekend, 2009’s first-ever Eco Cup captivated a colorful and crunchy audience with a Mini Mega Ramp and Rail Jam set up. The battle for a purse of $40K took place over two days of friendly competition. Check the results below.
