If there’s anyone that should be holding up the undisputed Manny Championship belt, it’s Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao. Not some scrub skater from the east coast, west coast, or any coast for that matter when the real champion is on the Far East coast. That’s right. It’s in the Southern Philippines where guerrilla warfare and Islamic terrorism runs rampant. Growing up in an environment like that can’t make you any tougher. The one other tough guy I can think of at the moment is THIS GUY. So as far as I’m concerned there’s only one Manny Champion at a time.
If you were able to catch the Pacquiao Hatton FIGHT in Vegas a couple of months ago, you probably learned a few things. One: Manny can probably knock out anybody he wants to. Even Mike Tyson. Two: Manny has some of the coolest hairstyles ever seen on a professional athlete. Three: Manny sure can sing a good BALLAD. So trust me, there’s no skater in the world that is more talented, rougher around the edges, and more angelic sounding than the Pac Man.
But as you can see in the photo above, the Manny contest in NYC went on anyway. Via REDBULL Last year, skateboarding pro Joey Brezinski repeated his title as the Manny champ, but this year was certain to have a new victor, as Brezinski finished just out of the top-three. The finals saw crowd favorite Mike Mo Capaldi battle Reed and Kelly Hart in a seven-minute manual battle royale. Mike Mo got people cheering with a half cab manny backside flip and a swtreflip manny over the euro gap. But Reed sealed the deal with his backlip to manny to front board on the rail and a backside 180 fakie manny bigspin out. The finalists were awarded custom-made championship belts for surviving the battle.
