Vote for your favorite surfer in the Hurley US Open Event

Do you miss voting for your favorites since the demise of TRL? I can remember many a day watching that god-awful show, with a bunch of lame teenagers yelling for horrible songs, in order to request “Go Let It Out” by Oasis (yes, I am that old). Ok, maybe you don’t even know who Oasis is; so for your sake I will say CRAZY TOWN. So I’m sure when you finally got to see a “Crazy Town” video you were super stoked. I know when they would play “Crazy Town” on American MTV, I was excited because it wasn’t like they played “Crazy Town” in America all the time. Also you had that little bit of excitement when TRL would play “Song 2” by Blur. For all of you that don’t know who Blur is, I will call them “LIMP BIZKIT”. Let me tell you, it was a treat to see a “Crazy Town” or “Limp Bizkit” video on MTV.
This July, at the Hurley US Open of Surfing, there will be an event called the World Professional Surfers All-Star event, where the fans finally get to decide who they want to see perform. The concept is simple. World Professional Surfers (WPS), the union that works on behalf of the ASP’s touring professionals, helped hatch an event that is our equivalent to the Home Run Derby or the Slam Dunk Contest.
The fans vote, the top 10 surfers are announced and then those surfers attend the Open at Huntington Beach, surf in the six-star, get proper recognition on stage and also compete in a PWC-assisted expression session that has to be seen to be believed.
Right now, four former world champions are guaranteed All Stars: Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, Mick Fanning and CJ Hobgood. The six remaining All Stars are entirely up to you. Just go to the World Professional Surfers site, pick your favorite surfer and cast your vote.
