“There are ten millions skaters in the United States alone… This is their story.” Awesome! Little Ravi Patel from Chino Hills California will be psyched to see that there is finally a film out there that he can totally relate to. Not “Ghost Of Girlfriends Past”. “The Soloist”? Not even close. “17 Again?” Well maybe. But “STREET DREAMS” is the line at the movies Ravi will be standing in when the film debuts later this year. “Derrick Cabrera, like all skateboarders, dreams of being sponsored one day. He has all the talent in the world to make it happen but some major roadblocks to overcome before he can make the dream a reality. He is receiving pressure from all sides, his parents are stressing him because he is failing in school, his girlfriend thinks he is a loser, his best friend has become his rival because he is better than him. Things come to a head after Derrick gets arrested and a fight ensues with his father resulting in him running away from home. He does the only thing he knows how to do and opts to follow his dream to the Tampa Am contest, one of the only ways an unknown skater can get noticed.”
Beginning next weekend, Rob Dyrdek will travel across the US for his DC Fantasies Run Deep Tour presented by his upcoming film, Street Dreams.
Over 23 days, DC’s Fantasies Run Deep Tour will make 10 stops across America beginning May 16th in Huntington Beach, California. Dyrdek will visit skate shops across the country for meet and greets, autograph signings and screenings. The tour will wrap up at DC’s Soho Store in New York City on June 7th, the day before the Hollywood premiere of his new movie, Street Dreams.
Dyrdek wrote, produced and financed Street Dreams, his first full-length feature film about an up-and-coming skateboarder and his dreams. With a cast that includes Dyrdek, Paul Rodriquez, Ryan Sheckler, Terry Kennedy and Ryan Dunn, Street Dreams is truly the first story to accurately depict the realities of life as a street skateboarder to a mainstream audience. In advance of the film’s theatrical release on June 12th, Dyrdek will be screening the film to limited audiences during the DC Fantasies Run Deep Tour.
