South Bay Tops Futures AM Series Region 2 Opener

Action continued Saturday for the Futures AM Series sponsored by Sneaux Shoes, with South Bay taking the Region 2 opener at the Culver City Skatepark in Culver City, CA.
Steve Badillo, Future AM Series Head Judge, said, “It is good to see new schools competing in the Future Am Series. Two years ago we had seven teams in our first year. Last year the team count increased to 20 teams and this, our third year, we have 40 teams in two divisions.”
Santa Monica came in second and hometown Culver City took third place. The best individual trick competition was won by Steve Perez from Birmingham.
Caedyn Curto, 14, from first place team South Bay, had fun competing with teammate Jared Cleland. Curto says he skates almost everyday. “I’m on my board at least 350 days each year. I’ve been skating since I was 5.”
Over 250 skate fans lined Culver City Skatepark watching 20 teams compete in Future AM Region 2 competition.
“Next weekend the Future AM Region 1 Contest will be at the new Fillmore Skatepark,” said Badillo, “being a new park it will level the playing field for all skaters.”
Region #2 - Event Results
1st place - South Bay (Caedyn Curto and Jared Cleland)
2nd place – Santa Monica (Michael Granberry, Blake Johnson and Matt LeMond)
3rd place – Culver City (Trent Williams, Genesis Atkins, Nolan Reardon, Gerardo Martinez and Dante Pope)
The Best Trick was won by Steve Perez from Birmingham.
