Kelly Slater Gets A Ten Page Spread in Playgirl

Sike, we meant Sports Illustrated. He got a whole article about the way he is trying to change the sport, and take it to the next level. I ‘m pretty annoyed with somebody always saying taking it to the next level. What happens if there is no next level? Does that mean that they are screwed, staying at the same level always. Yet I truly believe that Kelly Slater can take it to the next level.

He’s been on another level ever since he came on the scene. Now, he just wants to take everyone along for the Kelly Slater ride to the next level. Not only is SI giving him mad press and love, ESPN the Mag is following around with a box of surf wax. All the talk is of Bringing Surfer out of its Niche Market that is only shown on specific channels and on the internets.  I guess he got tired of winning everything and is looking to raise shared revenue with other surfers.

The funniest part of the article was how they described Kelly Slater, and I quote “Kelly could be the Michael Jordan and David Stern of his sport “. That’s like saying Slater wants to run the surfing of the world and surf at the same time. Or hinting that Kelly Slater could run the world of surfing from his blackberry while on his surfboard while ripping through a barrel. This is what happens when you let an outsider into the world of Surfing. Just utter confusion. Well check out the articles themselves when they hit the shelves.
