The 2009/2011 international snowboard season has been announced. Today Burton announced all the dates for the Burton Global Open Series .The season will begin in New Zealand land of the Hobbits and children who go to school barefoot. This year there are a couple of changes to the Open series. In the past there were usually two separate events held in the southern hemisphere of the world. I guess due to the global neo-depression, Burton has combined the Australian and New Zealand Open into one event and has rolled it out as one bonanza for the ages taking place in New Zealand in Aug 11th -15th . Liam Griffin, who is the director for Global Events at the guys at Burton, told the press “Heading into a busy Olympic year, we’ve decided to reduce the number of events to free up some room in the global events calendar.”

Burton always the leader in products and technology innovation in the art and sport of snowboarding. Burton hosted more events that are scheduled year –round and in over five countries spread throughout four continents. In the near future I foresee them staging the ultimate event in Antarctica. The events in the Burton Global Open Series allows male and female riders to accumulate points in snowboarding that lead all the way to the slopes of Vermont in Stratton .It will go down in Stratton where championship titles will be determined for the fellas and ladies.

Here listed below are the dates for the various stages of the Burton Global series in various parts of the world.

European Open stage will be held in Laax, Switzerland from January 9-16

Canadian Open at Canada Olympic Park, Calgary, Alberta from February 2-7,
