Every young man will come to a crossroads early in their lives where they must decide: “Do I want to be a boy forever? Or am I ready to become a man?” For my friend Daniel Gruenwald, that day came when he invited all of his friends over for his BAR MITZVAH and in no time, he was the manliest boy on the block. For other boys, that day comes when they have their first kiss. But remember kissing your sister’s Barbie doll doesn’t count. And in the rare exception, I believe it’s okay in some cultures to have a QUINCEANERA.
In the extra special rare occasion, a boy gets to become a man on the day he becomes a pro just as in the case of Benny Fairfax. This time last year, I bet less than half of the skate population knew who Benny really was. I knew who he was because I’m a DREADLOCK CONNOISSEUR. But thanks to the Battle At The Berrics, Benny is now a household name.
