Richard Ashcroft, Thom Yorke, Badly Drawn Boy: ever heard of these guys?  Probably not.  How about DJ Shadow, Mike D. and Money Mark.  Have you ever heard of these guys?  Probably a few of those names ring a bell.  Most importantly, have you ever heard of a gentleman named James Lavelle?  Well the fist three wankers are British musicians, the second three are American hip-hop acts, and the last guy put everyone together in a collaboration called UNKLE.  And why haven’t you ever heard of these people before or why aren’t they played on KISS FM?  Because the remixes that come out of these guys aren’t da bomb ya know what I mean?  They need to take a page out of P. Diddy or A-KON, or VANILLA ICE if they ever expect to make it onto the airwaves and hit it big.

Heaven is one of the standout tracks from the 2008 UNKLE album End Titles – Stories for Film, an eclectic collection of recordings inspired by the moving image.

Heaven was used in the acclaimed skate film Fully Flared directed by Spike Jonze and Ty Evans. The collaboration inspired the directors to take footage and re-edit a sequence of shots that shows the Lakai  team demonstrate their considerable skills as they negotiate various exploding obstacles. With Heaven as the musical backdrop, the resulting marriage of sound to picture is quite extraordinary.

In all seriousness, UNKLE is seriously one of the best music projects ever created.  Below is one of my favorite music videos of all time.  And it’s over 10 years old.
