Stephanie Gilmore has kicked off her 2009 campaign for a third-straight world championship in good form, winning the season’s first contest, the Roxy Pro Gold Coast.
Gilmore had hardly any competition in the contest, with her closest heat being in the quarterfinals against Chelsea Hedges. After that she dispatched rookie Paige Hareb in the semis (16.33 to 12.16) and then faced Melanie Bartels in the finals, where a first wave of 9.57 helped seal the contest as she won 16.07 to 12.50.
More about the contest at the official site.
