“Street Dreams” Trailer

“There are ten millions skaters in the United States alone… This is their story.” Awesome! Little Ravi Patel from Chino Hills California will be psyched to see that there is finally a film out there that he can totally relate to. Not “Australia”. “Madea Goes to Jail”? Not even close. “STREET DREAMS” is the line at the movies Ravi will be standing in when the film debuts later this year. I don’t think he’s been this excited for a film since GOOD BURGER was released in 1997. When he was seven. Check out the film’s synopsis.
Derrick Cabrera, like all skateboarders, dreams of being sponsored one day. He has all the talent in the world to make it happen but some major roadblocks to overcome before he can make the dream a reality. He is receiving pressure from all sides, his parents are stressing him because he is failing in school, his girlfriend thinks he is a loser, his best friend has become his rival because he is better than him. Things come to a head after Derrick gets arrested and a fight ensues with his father resulting in him running away from home. He does the only thing he knows how to do and opts to follow his dream to the Tampa Am contest, one of the only ways an unknown skater can get noticed.
Believe it or not, Rob Dyrdek not only stars in this wonderful looking film, he also co-wrote it. What’s even more amazing, Rob’s looks like he’s playing a 13 year old. Plus it kind of also sounds like a male version of CROSSROADS. The movie also co-stars Ryan Dunn, Terry Kennedy, Ryan Sheckler, and the star of the film Paul Rodriguez. Damn, P-Rod is working his way up the ranks. He’ll soon be as big as Willy Santos.
But overall it’s good for a film to come out that represents skaters in a good light while the rest of the world just can’t understand us. Just how kids in the U.S. were well represented in the film KIDS. Or how sacred Japanese ninja warriors were well epitomized within the actors in the THREE NINJAS. Check out the trailer below.
