Maybe my praise for the Battle At The Berrics S.K.A.T.E. contest was a bit premature. Wow, now I feel stupid. After going on and on about the Berrics, Quiksilver now comes out with their own new developed twist on the game of S.K.A.T.E. I didn’t think that such a simple game could have so many variations.
So what kind of spin has Quiksilver put on the traditional game of S.K.A.T.E? Quiksilver and ShredOrDie.com are launching a user-upload video contest called “Race to S.K.A.T.E.” In this version, the object of the game is to get all letters in S.K.A.T.E first as opposed to last. Huh? So you want to lose? Because from what I learned in BAD BOY CLUB SCHOOL, 2nd place is the first LOSER.
Throughout the month of March, Quiksilver will upload a new video every Friday with a different Quiksilver pro doing five tricks. The contestants must then film themselves doing these same five tricks, earning them one letter per trick, spelling S.K.A.T.E with five successful tricks.
Quiksilver teamriders featuring their tricks are Tony Hawk, Alex Olson, Danny Garcia, Reese Forbes and Kyle Leeper. Each pro’s skate video will feature a different track from the newly remastered 20th Anniversary Edition Beastie Boys album “Paul’s Boutique”.
To view Tony Hawk’s kick-off video for the Race to S.K.A.T.E contest, go to SHRED OR DIE. New videos will be uploaded every Friday at 4:00 P.M. (Pacific Time).
