Best Round Of The Battle Of The Berrics

It all started in November. Last November of 2008 to be exact. November 9th, 2008 at 12:52 to even be more exact (I think). On that day, I witnessed thirty-two of the burliest members of a single organization, come together to create one of the most epic showdowns in extreme sports history. You’ve got the sports highest flyers, biggest poppers, nastiest styles, and gnarliest hair in one ring, all vying for the coveted top prize. You can’t frown this.
That’s right, on November 9th, 2008 my brother surprised me with an ultra rare original copy of the 1979 Stampede Wresting Battle Royal with my favorite wrester of all time, ANDRE THE GIANT. I used to pretend I was Andre calling myself, “Andres the Guapo”.
In other news, another battle royal started on that same day but obviously not as extreme as wrestling. Steve Berra and Eric Koston introduced their version of a battle royal with the first ever BATTLE AT THE BERRICS. Who knew that a flat ground skateboarding tournament could be so exciting? Every Saturday and Sunday morning, thousands of extreme enthusiasts from all over this globe would log on to THE BERRICS to view round after round of intense, nerve wracking, butterfly stomach turning, and rawest to the max skateboarding. The last time I paid this much attention to something episodic was the UPN’s hit television show SILVER LAKE. Unfortunately the show lasted for only 3 episodes.
After four long months, the Battle At The Berrics came to an end. THIS WAS THE BEST SKATE CONTEST I’VE EVER SEEN. The final rounds were all thrillers but I think it’s safe to say, BILLY MARKS VS. PJ LADD was epic and easily for me the best head to head match. The skating was unlike any other round of the tournament. CHECK IT!
