Irons Bros Host The 8th Annual Pine Tree Classic

The most popular brother duo after the Gallagher Brothers, will be hosting the Pine Tree Classic, which is unbelievably now in its 8th year. That’s right, surf champions Andy and Bruce Irons will be back hold their 8th annual Irons Brothers Pine Tree Classic on Saturday, February 28th at Hanalei’s Pine Trees Beach. The Classic, which continues to grow in attendance each year, is surf contest for up and coming young’ns on the island and includes food, games and prizes from event sponsors. And possibly a few signed foreheads are in the kids futures. The one-day event was created as a way to give back to the community where the Irons brothers grew up. That’s why when most of you become a big star; you better not forget where you came from no matter how crappy it is. The event starts at 8 a.m. and is free for all kids who enter the contest.
Surfers will be eligible to compete in the following categories: menehunes 6-8, boys and girls 9-10, and boys and girls 11-12. Kids in attendance will receive tons of free stuff through the brother’s sponsors including Billabong, Red Bull, Nixon, Volcom, Oakley, DC Shoes, Von Zipper, Dakine, Tamba and JS Surfboards.
“Bruce and I look forward to doing this contest every year for the kids, and it has been amazing to see how it’s grown over the years. We might have had half of the islands population on the beach last year with kids running around everywhere in full mayhem mode. More than anything it’s a surf contest that’s meant to bring everyone from Kauai together for the day and the kids all leave winners thanks to our sponsors,” Andy said regarding the event.
