Shred Or Die Coverage Of GFL Events

It was a busy week in San Diego at the ASR Trade Show. Not necessarily busy for a lot of the companies who presented their product to a less than stellar turn out due to a crummy economy, but quite busy for the Grind For Life crew who held to major events. Because of the cancellation of the Quicksilver Danny Wainwright High Ollie Challenge, GFL decided to throw their own HIGH OLLIE CHALLENGE. But from what I’ve seen, these “high ollie” contests can get pretty boring and monotonous. It’s pretty difficult to see the difference between a 39” ollie and a 40” ollie.
But it’s okay because the GFL also threw the Christian Hosoi Jump Ramp Contest. This event was more exciting for several reasons. Besides having a wide variety of high profile legends like Hosoi himself, Andy MacDonald, a GRIZZLY ADAMS looking Kris Markovich, Sal Barbier, and Chad Knight, the variety of tricks were amazing and a throwback to the good ol’ days of skating. Even the boards were vintage.
But the best thing about this event was the participation of a dude called Wheels. He’s not using a skateboard either. He uses a wheelchair. And Wheels didn’t just jump the ramp using his wheelchair, he did a backflip using his wheelchair. And he landed on his head! My goodness that’s some balls. Check out the video below.
