Mike Vallely Speaking About Paul Blart

Mike Vallely has been taking on many challenging endeavors lately.  After already having a strong hold on skateboarding, hockey, and projecting that lovely voice of his with his band, he took it upon himself to dive into the silver screen.  That’s right, Vallely can now add acting to his long resume.  There has been a long history of musicians who make the transition onto the big screen.  Mariah Carey with the smash hit GLITTER, Brittany Spears with the uplifting CROSSROADS, and my personal favorite, so much so I have two DVD copies (not lying), Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson’s romantic love story, FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY

Have the optimists of the skateboard world had as much success as the dreamers of the music industry?  Let’s see.  Just recently, P-Rod starred in his very first movie “VICIOUS CIRCLE”, which won an award at the Latino Film Festival in NYC.  Not to mention Paul’s role in Paul Sr.’s A MILLION TO JUAN.  And I’m sorry to sound like a broken record, but Willy Manaloto Santos’ role in my favorite skateboard film, THE SKATEBOARD KID II cannot go without mention.  And who could forget the tear jerker episodes of Ryan Sheckler’s hit television drama, LIFE OF RYAN.  So I think it’s safe to say that skaters have definitely shared in the same success musicians were blessed to experience.

Now it’s Mike V.’s turn.  He takes the villain role in the new comedy PAUL BLART: MALL COP.  It looks like an action packed non-stop comedy.  I also very happy to see that this film takes on the perspective of the security guard type of cop.  Hopefully it will change the opinions of God’s gift to man, OFFICER RIVIERI, which the general consensus is negative.  Trust me, things will change for Rivieri once this movie is released.
