“That was the whitest black guy I’ve ever seen in my life.”  Who said that quote?  Sean Sheffey did in the groundbreaking “The Questionable Video”.  But boy, is it vintage already?  It’s hard to imagine that Sean Sheffey’s Jimi Hendrix monkey graphic is already 17 years old.  If you grew up skating in the 90’s, you probably have a soft spot when you see something as nostalgic as this.  Theme music to “Saved By The Bell”, Taco Bell, and old 90’s skate decks always get me.  Sean Sheffey is definitely one of the 90’s skate icons, especially coming from Plan B.

The graphics back in the day were very unique.  It was an unprecedented time in not just the skateboard world, but also the art world.  Kids were creating these phenomenon pieces of art that most likely could not be released today.   They were probably straight up out illegal especially in the Steve Rocco era.  I would have to hide my board from my parents most of the time.

So after a long hiatus from skating, it’s great to see a bit of a revival from Sean.  Sean Cliver, the artist behind the graphic talks with Clubmumble.com on the early developments on the re-release.  Plus if you haven’t seen The ROCCO flick “The Man Who Souled The World”, check it out.  Plenty of nostalgia there.
