Epicly Later’d – Lakai – Anthony Pappalardo

Wow, this is a fresh perspective on the high film speed/slow motion antics of the Lakai Footwear skate team. The epic series of Mike Carroll’s fruitful life has come to an end and Epicly Later’d’s Patrick O’Dell surprisingly landed an entire full episode with probably the most obscure skater on Lakai: Anthony Pappalardo. I say “wow” because Popps is one of the biggest standout notable skaters on the team not for his level of technical ability, but for his demeanor and skating style. He’s the epitome of an east coast skater along the likes of a Ricky Oyola, or one of his favorite skaters, Fred Gall. It’s so primitive. Those guys are as rough as the crappy terrain they skate. But that’s what makes them dope.
In this episode, Anthony gives his opinion on the caliber of skateboarding that arose from the Lakai video and the strict shooting schedule. Although Ty Evans’ military style of shooting had created a monster of a video, I think that Pappalardo makes a good point about what went on for his west coast colleagues. Check out the east coast style vs. how it’s done on the west.
