Do you remember being a young kid during the summer time out at the city pool with a bunch of friends?  Do you recall how much peer pressure your friends put on you to dive off the high platform?  I bet you nearly had to change your Speedo that day.  Well I did, and I jumped.  Actually my brother pulled me up there and threw me off.  It was probably one of the most traumatizing, and the biggest awakenings I had as a child.  Now I can jump off nearly anything at any height.  Thanks brother.

Well in order for me to get over that fear, I needed the peer pressure from my brother and his friends to get me to do what I felt at the time, was impossible.  Danny Way takes time out of his busy getting hurt schedule to talk to one of your favorite publications, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL.  Danny discusses the ins and outs of his conception and how it eventually evolved into the phenomenon that it is today.  Can you imagine that he eye balled the dimensions for the Mega Ramp?  And forgive me for saying this, but he made vert skating fun to watch again.

Well not all vert skaters partake in the Mega Ramp.  Just like my brother pushed me to jump off the high dive, or how you’re friends forced you to smoke that doobie, peer pressure is definitely apparent in the new world of Mega Ramp.  But I know one thing that should motivate a timid vert skater.  Ryan Sheckler did it.  And he’s got  a dramatic series on MTV.  Come on!  But here is my favorite quote from the article.

“God forbid it happens, but it’s possible for somebody to get really, really hurt. It’s the same thing with motocross. Freestyle moto, guys doing double flips and front flips and stuff, that stuff’s deadly, too. That’s why people come to watch it.”

Damn, I hope that watching Mega Ramp isn’t comparable to watching NASCAR.  That stuff is just awful.  Read the article over at the WALL STREET JOURNAL
