The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing has always been one of the preeminent events in surfing and this year’s is no exception.  The ‘08 edition, which kicks off on November 12 with the Reef Hawaiian Pro, will have a total prize payout over five events of $815K — the most ever for the series.

The tour consists of two Men’s WQS events (Reef Hawaiian Pro and The O’Neill World Cup of Surfing), women’s WCT events (The Roxy Pro and Billabong Pro Maui) and the final men’s WCT event of the season, the Billabong Pipeline Masters.

While Kelly Slater will have wrapped up his record ninth world title well before the Triple Crown kicks off, the women’s world champ and WQS rankings for the men will be impacted by the events.

In addition to the individual contests, a winner will take home the Triple Crown title for his/her overall performance.  Last year Bede Durbidge was the men’s champ and the Megan Abubo the women’s champ.

When the contests begin, they will be webcast live on ASPWorldTour.com.
