Paul Luc Ronchetti Wins Skate Vert Free Flow Contest in SLC

There are definitely some young guns ready to take on Andy Mac, Bucky Lasek and Bob Burnquist and a few of them were on display Sunday at the Free Flow Tour finals at the Toyota Challenge in SLC.  Ending up on top was 15-year-old Paul Luc Ronchetti, who will now get an entry to next month’s PlayStation Pro.

Paul Luc Ronchetti wins Free Flow Tour Skate Vert Finals in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY – Paul Luc Ronchetti won the skate vert event Sunday at the Free Flow Tour finals. The competition was held at the AST Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge.

The 15-year-old Ronchetti of Norwich, UK achieved the skate vert win with back-to-back 540s in his second run to score an 86.00. Zach Miller, of Encinitas, Calif., followed with an 84.33 and Jordan Price, of Port Orange, Fla., placed third with a 78.33.

“It feels good to win the Free Flow Tour finals,” Ronchetti said. “I didn’t expect to do so well, but my second run went perfectly. It will be challenging going up against the Dew Tour pros next month, but I’m going to skate hard and do my best.”

With the win, Ronchetti earns a wildcard entry into the AST Dew Tour’s PlayStation® Pro, October 16-19.

The Free Flow Tour finals are a part of the Toyota Challenge event, a four-day competition that is the fourth of five stops on the AST Dew Tour, which features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross.

The Free Flow Tour consists of 50 events across the U.S. and features 30 skateboarding (24 park and six vert) and 20 BMX (16 park and four vert) competitions. Encompassing the ‘Flow to Pro’ theme, the two overall skate and BMX park champions and the two overall skate and BMX vert champions win a wild card spot to compete against the pros at the final stop of the AST Dew Tour, the PlayStation Pro®, in Orlando, Fla.
