Chris Powers Struck And Killed By Police Car

Twenty-six year old professional BMX racer Chris Powers from Jonesboro, Illinois was struck and killed by a police car while trying to avoid traffic.  The incident took place on Sunday August 31st on U.S. highway south of London Kentucky.

As reported on fortmilltimes.com, Senior Trooper Christopher W. Roberts who hit Chris said that he was driving down the highway in a marked state police vehicle as he swerved out of the way to avoid an abruptly stopped car on the roadway.

Roberts had struck two bikers, one being Kevin Alshouse, a 26 year old from McHnry Illinois who received minor injuries and was treated and the second being Chris Powers who was pronounced dead at the scene by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.
