Are you in the giving spirit?  If so, then great for you because if you’re not, like me, then maybe you can be inspired by these dudes.   embarked on a journey across the country that began in Huntington Beach California and ended in New York.  This adventure was documented on camera ad was turned into a film called “The Weenabago Projekt 2/Crossing America”.  I hope they know that the name of their movie is horribly spelled, but that’s besides the point.  Proceeds from opening night of the film went towards the construction of a new Huntington Beach Skate Park.

These guys to begin with are bold.  They are leaders in their skate community and are paying their respects by donating half of the tickets sales to the city.  What’s even more bold, they crossed the United States using (what i suspect a crappy) 1970’s recreational vehicle.  But what fun would it be if there was air conditioning, a radio, or even proper seats?  Pretty boring if you ask me.

The film “Crossing America” premiered at t he Regency Theater in Huntington Beach on August 6th.  There were about 300 people who showed up for the premiere.

“We wanted to show the city we were doing something positive,” Townend said about the donation, made at Wednesday’s Huntington Beach Community Services Commission meeting.

  2. I get the feeling “Mike” doesn’t know much about anything outside of skating. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Just seems that skating’s the only thing you guys post here that isn’t a press release.
