Some companies are so poorly hyped that when they go public, they hardly seen a response. Other companies don’t give a crap about promoting their brand, yet they do amazingly well. I think that’s the route Roger Skateboards is taking.
If you haven’t heard of Roger Skateboards yet, you should definitely go check them out. I don’t know a single skater of theirs, or have seen any skate footage, or even seen a photo. But based on their ad campaign that they are probably going to fail and be out of business by the end of this year, I’m already a huge fan. Their site is damn funny and pretty clever. It reminds me of a group of 13 year olds had enough money to put a team together and make some graphics.
Says Roger, “The plan is to start small and grow organically. Once there’s some money in the bank, we’ll be able to adequately take care of some on board talent. Once there’s a little more money in the bank, maybe we can rent a van and drive to a handrail in the Midwest. One day at a time.”
I like that. Their plan is actually really economically smart so hopefully they won’t be out of business any time soon. Check out the Roger Skateboards site. It really has nothing up yet, but at least you can learn about Red Pandas there. Check it.
